We held a Greenpeace style march combining the Step It Up national day of action with our own Project Hotseat, putting Congressional Representatives in the hotseat and asking them to sign onto the Safe Climate Act. At our event in Jamaica, Queens, we put Rep. Gregory Meeks in the hotseat on global warming. Greenpeace volunteers and community members marched through Roy Wilkins Park chanting "Stop Global Warming!". We marched on the track around ongoing sports games, and recruited concerned citizens to join in our march. Then we headed indoors to sign petitions, write letters to Rep. Meeks, play games, and video tape personal messages to the Congressman demanding that he step up to global warming by signing on to the Safe Climate Act. All in all, we had a fun filled day bringing the people of southeastern Queens together under the urgent concern of climate change.
